Seller guide

How selling on 3DPrintMe works

One fee, no listing or processing charges, your own USPS labels, and payouts to your bank every week. This page is the plain-English version of the rules the platform enforces.

Set up your shop

Three things must be connected before you can complete an order. Shop Manager shows a banner until they are.

  1. Shop — name, logo, bio and a ship-from address. You must be in the United States.
  2. Stripe Express — identity check and the bank account we pay you into. Stripe handles the verification; we never see your bank details.
  3. Shippo — the account you buy USPS labels on. Labels are billed to you at Shippo's commercial rates; 3DPrintMe adds nothing.

Digital-only sellers skip Shippo.

What you can sell

TypeMinimum priceHow it works
Physical print$3.00You print and ship. Set weight and box size so shipping quotes are right.
Digital model$1.99 or freeBuyer downloads STL/3MF/OBJ/STEP files. You choose the licence, from personal use to commercial.
Commission$25.00Buyer pays a deposit, you send a proof, buyer approves, buyer pays the balance, you ship.

Say who designed it. Every listing has a design attribution field: your own design, licensed from a designer, an open licence that allows sale, or public domain. Licensed designs need the designer's name and a link. It shows on the listing as a trust badge and is your record if a designer ever questions the listing. Selling someone's design without the right to do so gets the listing removed and can close your shop.

Prohibited items follow the Prohibited Items Policy.

Fees

10% of items plus shipping, tax excluded. No listing fee, no monthly fee, no ad fee. On completed sales 3DPrintMe pays the card-processing cost out of its 10%.

SaleYou receive
$20 print + $5 shipping$22.50 (fee $2.50)
$10 digital model$9.00 (fee $1.00)
$1.99 digital model$1.49 (fee is $0.50 minimum)
$50 commission (deposit + balance)$45.00 (fee $5.00 across both payments)

Refunds. When an order is refunded because you cancelled it, shipped late or not at all, or a buyer's dispute was upheld, the card-processing cost on the refunded amount (2.9% + $0.30) is deducted from your payout. Refunds caused by 3DPrintMe, an oversell, fraud, or a buyer cancelling within 60 minutes of purchase cost you nothing.

Chargebacks. If a buyer's bank reverses a payment and the case is lost, the card network's $15 dispute fee is deducted from your next payout. Ship with tracking and describe items accurately and this will not happen to you.

Nothing is ever charged to your bank account. Amounts you owe are only taken from money we are holding for you. The full schedule is in Shop Manager → Finances → Sales & Fees, and the legal basis is the Seller Agreement.

Orders and shipping

When a buyer pays you get an email and an in-app notification. The order shows a ship-by date: your listing's lead time in business days, three by default.

  1. Print the packing slip from the order and pack the item.
  2. Buy the USPS label from the order page. The buyer already paid the exact rate they chose at checkout.
  3. Drop it off. The first carrier scan marks the order shipped and starts the buyer's tracking.
TimeWhat happens
1 day before ship-byReminder email and notification
Ship-by dateUrgent notice; the buyer is told the order is running late
5 days after a label is bought with no scanThe buyer may cancel for a full refund
7 days after ship-by with no shipmentThe order is cancelled and refunded automatically, counted as seller-fault

Domestic USPS only at launch. Buyers see live USPS rates at checkout and pay shipping on top of the item price.

Cancellations and refunds

Buyers can cancel on their own within 60 minutes of paying. After that they must ask you, so you are never surprised by a cancellation mid-print.

You can cancel and refund any order before you buy the label, from the order page. The buyer gets a full refund including shipping and tax. Because you chose to cancel, the card-processing cost on the refund comes out of your payout.

Returns follow the return policy you attach to each listing. The default is no returns; you can create templates in Shop Settings.

Getting paid

Every order pays out as one transfer: items plus shipping minus the 10% fee. Tax is collected and remitted by 3DPrintMe and never passes through your account.

You graduate to Established after 90 days with a dispute rate under 1% and fewer than 3 strikes. Digital orders release after the download-dispute window instead of a delivery date.

Finances in Shop Manager shows what is held, what is on its way, and every fee, refund and deduction. The Stripe Express dashboard shows bank-side history only after we have transferred the money.

Disputes and strikes

Buyers can open a claim for not received, not as described, damaged, or late. You get 48 hours to respond with tracking, photos, or a message. A "never arrived" claim with no tracking on file and no response in 48 hours is refunded automatically and counts against you.

A strike is recorded for a lost dispute, a late-ship auto-cancel, or a policy violation. Three strikes close the shop. Strikes are visible in Shop Manager and can be appealed by email.

Ship with tracking, describe accurately, and reply to messages within a day, and you will not see any of this.

Earning trust

  • Use real photos of your prints, not renders.
  • Fill in the design attribution on every listing.
  • Set an honest lead time and beat it.
  • Answer messages; buyers can see how fast you reply.
  • Ask happy buyers for a review after delivery. Reviews with photos convert best.
